For most sailors the 7x50 is the one to buy, it's easier to hold steady and has a larger 7mm exit pupil to give a really bright image. Only those on more stable large vessels would benefit from a 10x50 with it's extra power.
Our 10x50 Marines won Sky at Night's 2008 10x50 group test! The 10x50 waterproof came third, against binoculars many times the price.
